How can I use LimeLinx?

Once you upload your media or document files, you'll be given a set of links, which you can email to your friends or family members. File size is limited to 100MB per Upload, however downloads are Unlimited.

What is LimeLinx's advantage over other file hosting sites.

LimeLinx unlike most of the existing hosting sites gives you the opportunity to view, listen or watch the uploaded files before you actually download them. This way you will have the opportunity to keep your computer clean of files that you don't want to download.

Can I use LimeLinx to backup files?

LimeLinx was designed to let people host files and images to share with others. It was not meant to be used as a backup service. Although we securely store a copy of every file you upload, we do not recommend that you use it to backup unique copies of files that cannot be replaced if they should become inaccessible on LimeLinx for any reason.

How secure is LimeLinx for hosting sensitive or confidential files?

The files you upload to LimeLinx are not publicly accessible and can only be downloaded if you choose to share them with others by giving them a sharing URL. It is recommended that you do not store extremely sensitive files on LimeLinx, especially for extended periods of times since files not downloaded for more than 60 days will be automatically deleted to keep our servers running efficiently.

Can I search files from other LimeLinx users?

At this time, there is no option to search files from other LimeLinx users in order to protect the privacy of people who have uploaded sensitive and/or confidential files.

I e-mailed a file to someone but that person didn't receive the e-mail?

f you e-mail a link to someone but that person didn't receive the e-mail, it may have been filtered in to their spam folder. Just ask your friend to check the spam folder, or simply send it link again.

Can I link directly (Hotlink) to files on LimeLinx?

There is currently no way to link directly (hotlink) to files on LimeLinx because our service is 100% free and supported by advertising.

How do I download files from LimeLinx?

To download files from LimeLinx, you must access the files from the unique sharing URLs provided to the person who uploaded the files. A sharing URL looks like: http://www.limelinx.com//media/ef32fc9b6c9a4f8da3ea2c55eg6d1aa0.aspx but each file has its own unique sharing URL.

How do I open .rar and .zip files?

Files ending with a rar or zip extension are compressed files. To open them, you'll need to download and install a decompression application like 7-Zip first.

What types of files can I upload to LimeLinx?

LimeLinx supports all file types (up to 100MB in file size) as long as they fully comply with our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service. Do not upload any copyrighted files that you don't own the rights to or don't have permission from the owner to distribute even if you have no intent of actually distributing them.

How long will my uploaded files be stored?

In order to keep our servers clean of files that are inactive, have been uploaded and forgotten and to make sure our service runs efficiently we have programmed our application to automatically delete files that stay inactive for more than 60 days. That means that if a file hasn't been downloaded for more than 60 days we will delete them.

What happens if I upload a file and lose the sharing URL for that file?

If and you lose the sharing URL for a file you uploaded, you'll need to upload the file again unfortunately. It is recommended that you keep the URL's of your files somewhere to avoid running into this problem.

How many files can I upload at a time?

You can upload as many files as you wish to LimeLinx, but only one at a time. We are currently working on adding a feature that will allow you to make multiple uploads at a time.

Can I upload a folder of files from my computer?

Web browsers do not currently support uploading a folder of files, but you can individually select and upload up your files individually, one at a time from the LimeLinx main page.

Can I upload files via FTP?

Our application does not currently support uploading files using FTP.

Why can't I upload files larger than 100MB?

LimeLinx currently has a file size limit of 100MB because bandwidth for serving downloads is the most expensive part of running a file hosting service. By limiting the maximum file size to 100MB, LimeLinx can offer the following features 100% free:
